Our History

Pandolfi's Deli is an authentic, Italian-American eatery in the Columbus Park district of Kansas City, Missouri, just east of the River Market. Originally started in 2002, Pandolfi's Deli was the brain child of Mike and Linda Hendershot and was located in Liberty, MO-about 30 minutes North of the Kansas City, MO metro.

While the business was sold and the doors closed on the original Pandolfi’s Deli in 2004, what started as a family business was revived 6 years later in 2010 when Mike and Linda's son, (current owners and Columbus Park residents) Jake Hendershot and his wife Julie, relocated the family business to Columbus Park, in Kansas City, MO. Known as one of KC's most historically rich and vibrant neighborhoods, this seemed a fitting location given the history of Columbus Park and it's strong Italian heritage and neighborhood values.

Today, Pandolfi's Deli has become a welcomed addition to the eclectic Columbus Park neighborhood and dining scene. Embracing the ideals of Columbus Park and our own roots, much of our staff is comprised of family, spanning four generations of the Pandolfi family, and neighbors that have become like family. Even the logo, the image of our Great-Grandfather, Guiseppi Pandolfi, immortalizes the Pandolfi family name and heritage as well as the Italian feel of the neighborhood itself.

What originally began as a breakfast and lunch venture in 2010, was expanded to include weekend dinners in December of 2011, with a turn-around of approximately 30 days from obtaining the keys, to welcoming the first diner into the newly renovated doors after taking the neighboring, vacant business space. We're redefining the typical dinner out into an urban Italian renaissance - mixing old with the new, the traditional flavors of our family legacy with tastes just created. Our long-time friend and now Chef de cuisine, Grant Cansler, stepped in to take the helm in designing a dinner menu to include many of our family recipes while incorporating his own personal style, and the first evening reservations were available we filled all the tables quickly.

About Us

More than just an Italian deli by day and gourmet experience by night, we encourage customers with various dietary restrictions to give us a try. With extensive Gluten-Free and Vegetarian sandwich, pasta, and soup options, we welcome everyone to join the Pandolfi's family and take part in the love that goes in to each recipe and item that we serve. From breakfast during the week to dinners on the weekends, there literally is something on the menu for everyone. And if there isn't, let us know!

We are open Monday-Friday 10:00am-3:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for lunch. We also host specialty dinners, private parties, rehearsal dinners, & corporate events. Reservations are recommended.
